Yvonne Cournoyer has provided training and leadership in sexual violence prevention since 2002. As the Prevention Program Manager for the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault, she was responsible for developing and delivering all sexual violence prevention programming. Highlights of her work with MNCASA include working with the Legislature to create the first ever State funding for the primary prevention of sexual violence and successful passage of extensive legislation to improve sexual violence prevention policies and practices in colleges and universities. Before joining MNCASA, Cournoyer worked with the national Stop It Now! organization and Stop It Now! Minnesota where she created and provided training and technical assistance to build personal and organizational capacity to prevent child sexual abuse. She also developed the first ever social marketing campaign targeting adults concerned about their own sexualized thoughts and behaviors toward children. This campaign was based on primary research with adults who had sexually abused children and involved extensive engagement with people who had experienced sexual abuse as well as family and friends of those who knew and cared about both the person who harmed and the person who was harmed.
